Gingerbread Men Cookie

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour sifted
  • ¾ cup Brown sugar packed
  • ¾ cup Butter softened
  • ½ cup Molasses unsulphured
  • 1 Egg room temperature
  • 1 tsp Baking soda fresh
  • 1 tbsp Ground ginger for flavor
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon optional
  • ½ tsp Ground cloves optional
  • ¼ tsp Salt to balance sweetness
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract optional

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add egg and molasses, then mix until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and spices.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture and form a dough.
  5. Wrap the dough and chill for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line baking trays.
  7. Roll out dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness.
  8. Cut into gingerbread men shapes using a cookie cutter.
  9. Place cookies on baking tray and bake for 8–10 minutes.
  10. Cool completely before decorating if desired.
