Apple Sausage Stuffing Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Italian sausage Mild or spicy
  • 4 cups Bread cubes Day-old
  • 1 cup Apple Peeled and diced
  • ½ cup Onion Chopped
  • ½ cup Celery Chopped
  • 2 tbsp Butter Unsalted
  • 1 tsp Sage Dried or fresh
  • 1 tsp Thyme Dried
  • 1 cup Chicken broth Warm
  • ½ tsp Salt Adjust to taste
  • ½ tsp Black pepper Freshly ground

Equipment

  • 1 Large skillet For cooking sausage
  • 1 Large mixing bowl To combine ingredients
  • 1 Baking dish 9×13-inch recommended
  • 1 Cutting board For prep
  • 1 Knife Sharp
  • 1 Wooden spoon For mixing

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned.
  3. Remove sausage and set aside, leaving drippings in the pan.
  4. Melt butter in the same skillet and sauté onion and celery until soft.
  5. Add diced apple and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  6. Transfer sausage, vegetables, and apples to a large mixing bowl.
  7. Add bread cubes, sage, thyme, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Pour in warm chicken broth and mix gently until moistened.
  9. Transfer mixture to a greased baking dish.
  10. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until golden on top.

  • For a sweeter stuffing, add dried cranberries.
