Baked Ham With Brown Sugar and Pineapple Glaze

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Bone-in ham 8–10 pounds
  • 1 cup Brown sugar Packed
  • 1 cup Pineapple juice Unsweetened
  • ½ cup Honey Or maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard Optional
  • 1 tsp Ground cloves Optional
  • 10 slices Pineapple rings Canned or fresh
  • 10 Maraschino cherries Optional garnish

Equipment

  • 1 Roasting pan Large enough for ham
  • 1 Aluminum foil For covering
  • 1 Saucepan For glaze
  • 1 Basting brush For applying glaze
  • 1 Sharp knife For scoring ham
  • 1 Cutting board For prep

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Place ham in a roasting pan and score the surface in a diamond pattern.
  3. Cover ham loosely with aluminum foil.
  4. Bake ham for 1 hour and 40 minutes, basting occasionally with pan juices.
  5. In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, pineapple juice, honey, mustard, and cloves.
  6. Cook glaze over medium heat until slightly thickened.
  7. Remove foil from ham and brush generously with glaze.
  8. Arrange pineapple rings and cherries on top of ham.
  9. Return ham to oven uncovered and bake for 20 minutes.
  10. Brush with additional glaze during the last 10 minutes.
  11. Remove from oven and let rest before slicing.

  • Use a meat thermometer; internal temperature should reach 140°F (60°C).
  • Leftover ham is great for sandwiches or soups.
  • Replace honey with maple syrup for a deeper flavor.
  • If ham is very salty, soak in water for 1 hour before baking.
