Ground Beef Stovetop Chili

A hearty ground beef stovetop chili made with rich tomato base, beans, and warm spices. This easy one-pot chili is perfect for a comforting family dinner or meal prep.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Ground beef 80/20 recommended
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil optional if beef is lean
  • 1 cup Onion chopped
  • 1 cup Bell pepper chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp Chili powder adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp Cumin ground
  • 1 tsp Paprika smoked or regular
  • 1 can Diced tomatoes 14.5 oz, undrained
  • 1 can Tomato sauce 15 oz
  • 1 can Kidney beans 15 oz, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tsp Salt adjust to taste
  • ½ tsp Black pepper freshly ground

Equipment

  • 1 Large pot or Dutch oven Heavy-bottom preferred
  • 1 Wooden spoon For stirring
  • 1 Cutting board Prep
  • 1 Knife Sharp
  • 1 Measuring spoons Optional

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart.
  3. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Add chopped onion and bell pepper and cook until softened.
  5. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  6. Add chili powder, cumin, and paprika and stir well.
  7. Pour in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and kidney beans.
  8. Season with salt and black pepper and mix thoroughly.
  9. Bring the chili to a gentle boil, then reduce heat.
  10. Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  11. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.

  • For thicker chili, simmer longer uncovered.
