Shrimp Sausage Dirty Rice Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Long-grain rice uncooked
  • 2 cups Water or broth for cooking rice
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil or butter
  • 8 oz Shrimp peeled, deveined
  • 6 oz Smoked sausage sliced
  • 1 cup Onion chopped
  • ½ cup Bell pepper chopped
  • ½ cup Celery chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning adjust to taste
  • ½ tsp Paprika smoked preferred
  • ½ tsp Black pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp Salt as needed
  • 2 tbsp Green onions chopped, garnish

Equipment

  • 1 Large skillet or pan
  • 1 Saucepan
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. Cook rice according to package instructions and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add sliced sausage and cook until lightly browned.
  4. Add shrimp and cook until pink, then remove and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, sauté onion, bell pepper, and celery until soft.
  6. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.
  7. Season with Cajun seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Add cooked rice to the skillet and mix well.
  9. Return shrimp and sausage to the pan and stir to combine.
  10. Cook for 2–3 minutes until heated through.
  11. Garnish with green onions and serve hot.
